I love pockets. I wanted my wedding dress to have pockets. Sure it was designed after Grace Kelly’s dress but I wanted pockets. That’s because though I was well-raised and you’d be hard pressed to find someone that enjoys etiquette as much as I – I don’t always behave like I’m supposed to.

I should behave like this:

However, I have my moments:

The top photo was seconds after the last one. See how quickly I can “straighten up.”

My momma said no to the pockets, so the bridesmaids dresses had them instead. They came in handy. That’s because pockets can come in handy just about anywhere and that’s why I like wall pockets. They can hold small plants like succulents or ivy. However, they can hold or contain lots of stuff.

  • writing utensils
  • candies
  • remote controls
  • bobby pins
  • jewelry
  • keys
  • toothpicks
  • loose change
  • scissors
  • Q-tips

I’m glad to see West Elm bringing back the wall pockets.

Not surprisingly, I may prefer vintage ones. Here are some of my favorite finds from the internets.

I’d like a collection of wall pockets, but I really don’t need to start that. However, if you have that in your life or have space for it, I’d like to talk to you about it and see some photos.

West Elm currently has their bedding 20% off. Their Organic Ironwork Duvet Set is included and it looks like this.

It made me think about Schumacher’s Conundrum in Peacock.

However, Conundrum is $213 a yard. So, the West Elm duvet is allowed to not be as pretty as it’s $63.00 to $87.00. So, you could buy one yard of Conundrum or a duvet from West Elm and a Chiang Mai pillow with monies left over for a quilt or more pillows.

I like it in the Mocha colorway, the black welt and the lumbar size. It’s a super winner.

I will not buy the pillow. I will not buy the pillow. I’m not supposed to be buying pillows.

As you know, I have a famous pillow. I got it in though I’m supposed to be on a pillow sabbatical. However, it is not the only pillow I’ve recently acquired. Please welcome this beauty.

embroidered wood-block flower pillow cover

She was on clearance from West Elm. I had an insert that I wasn’t using. It was actually in the way. So, duh. It happened. The pillow cover came home and it doesn’t break the rules because I reduced, reused and recycled that insert. Here she is among her pillow party friends on the couch.

The Pig loves having new friends.

Sometimes I think of making a bunch of pug pillows just for him.

You’ve seen this image before.

Who am I kidding? They are happening.

As I mentioned Tuesday, we’re selling our dining table. It is the 60″ Trestle Dining Table from West Elm and is no longer available. It measures 60″w X 40″d X 30.5″h and it seats 4-6 people. We sat it for both. As you probably know, I rarely cook. Therefore, it hasn’t been used that often and is in great shape. The glass top is very thick, the thickest we saw when looking and is nicely beveled around the edge. The trestle base is very sturdy and comes in two parts which makes it easy to move. The pictures below are our table and photos from the West Elm site.

We purchased it for a bit over $460.00.  It was on sale at that time and we are selling it for $400.00. Our Craigslist ad can be found here.

Recently, I have been on the hunt for a throw or blanket. It’s probably because I desperately look forward to Fall.

I still like Pottery Barn’s Bobble-Knit Throw, as mentioned in a previous post. (found here)

West Elm’s Pom Pom Throw

West Elm’s Chunky Tassel Throw

ZGallerie’s Bird Throw -I’d like it better if it came in something other black and white. I’d prefer navy.

In last week’s post Floored me I shared floor lamps I found on Wal-Mart’s site. Here are some of those lamps compared to those available through other retailers.

Behold, my two favorite dining inspiration photos for our dining room.

Picture published in Traditional Home
Photo from High Street Market

Our dining chairs are similar to the first photo and I like the glass doors on the corner cabinets. The built-in seating in the second photo could be very handy. The corresponding component of these photos is the storage. I have not contacted a carpenter, so I have no idea how much either option would cost. However, I’ve been looking for pieces to manipulate into two storage towers. I’d like each to be around 35″ wide and 96″ high.

Crate and Barrel’s Spotlight White Bookcase

Combine the wall-mounted bookcase and dresser below:

Of course, I’d combine them in the same color -white. I like the four drawer version too.

You could put 2 foot Paxton wall shelves above it. IKEA options would be EKBY JÄRPEN/ EKBY ROBERT shelves, EKBY STÅTLIG with EKBY STILIG brackets.
