I was so fussy

Last night I decided to watch Candice Tells All while working around the house. I was in another room when I heard my fairy design mother Sarah Richardson’s voice. I rushed into the room excited to see the commercial for Sarah’s Summer House. HGTV USAjust announced that they were going to show Sarah’s Summer House which was known as Sarah’s Cottage on HGTV Canada. I have been quite excited about this as I have sent more than one email to HGTV requesting it. So, I was super pumped about my sneak peak commercial. The Mister was happy for me, as he knows of my deep girl crush on Sarah and my love for Tommy Smythe. Then, at the end of the commercial,  it said that the show premiered Saturday.  I freak out.

I start moaning and yelling “OH NO! This is bad!” The Mister overhears the announcer lady and quickly searches HGTV’s schedule on our satellite. No show. He searches for it by name. The whole time I’m frantic which only increases when he says, “I’m sorry but they are only showing episodes on Saturday.” I quickly shout “WHAT?!” He turns to me, sad faced and says, “I’m really sorry but they are not showing the episode again. They’re showing them only on Saturday and not during the week. ” I feel hot and sick. I start threatening “I’m gonna throw up!” The Mister tells me to go sit down while he searches iTunes. Nothing. He searches HGTV. He finds that they are only showing episodes on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 a.m. They are not available beyond those times. I missed my chance for the season premiere. The “Living Room Addition” episode eluded me.

I feel ridiculous but I’m torn up. I continue with my fuss. I decline to an incredible juvenile chant of “stupid.” Stupid me. Stupid HGTV. Stupid HGTV for not announcing this better. Stupid HGTV for not having a way to sign up for email announcements. Stupid me for not being on Twitter more. Stupid lack of a fan club. Stupid me for not starting one. Stupid.

This will bother me. All I have is this one photo of the living room featured in the Living Room Addition episode.

Stupid pretty room.

I love jackets

Christie Smythe’s home — designed with the help of her brother, Tommy Smythe — has an edgy black and white palette punctuated with pops of fuchsia.

 The Smythe genes are good as both Tommy (you’ll hear more about him later) and Christe are very talented. She is half of the beautiful clothing company named Smythe. I had admired Sarah Richardson’s jackets while watching Sarah’s House and read (somewhere) that they likely came from the Smythe collection. Though I cannot confirm it to be true, I agree that is highly likely to be. Her jackets are cut like these lovely pieces available in the Spring 2011 Collection.

I love jackets. However, she loves them more.
