I finished upholstering our headboard. Here’s a sneaky peak.

We have a load of dirt (a whole truck of it) showing up this morning. We’re planting boxwoods and working on our landscape. Obviously, my house is going to look like this after this weekend.

Churchill cottage, birmingham

That would be the Best. Weekend. Ever.

This is still on clearance.

I want two, because I need more accent tables.

It’s gone down to $49.98 since this originally posted. Oh y’all. The temptation.

The past few weeks have been a blur. I ask that everyone schedule their annual physical, have patience as the blog goes through some big changes and it would be pretty swell if you would consider being part of this study.

I have an announcement. I’m over stump side tables and stools.

I’d love for you to come over for dinner and not be comfortable.

They don’t match my decor, so I’m sure that has something to do with it. There are many DIY tutorials about how to create them and you buy ceramic and wood stumps from multiple retailers. Yet, all I can think of are mites and mold. Anyone else?

This week I received my Wisteria May 2010 catalog.

Immediately, the coffee table caught my eye and I wanted to know what else they may have. I opened the catalog and on page three I found the coffee table and a side table.

Wisteria acrylic table $799

Inspired by a 1930s coffee table design.

Wisteria acrylic side table $699

Classic side or occasional table design. They state it is inspired by 18th century design.

They are beautiful, but more than I’m willing to spend. I say that then I stare a little longer.

These glass risers are purchased in sets of two and made of heavy clear glass.

J: small size $36.00
K: medium size $42.00
L: large size $49.00

Their coral and cream suzani pieces are really lovely and fit the colors I’m going for in our side room.

The overlay shown is $249.00 and found here.

There are many beautiful things inside their catalog and on their site. Enjoy their site, if you do not receive their catalog, and your weekend.

DIY: Stack Attack

The Mister has an incredible amount of books. This is for many reasons.

1. He’s in law school.
2. He enjoys reading.
3. He has an affinity for politics.
4. He will forget he has a book and purchase it again.

In the end, we  run out of space and I haven’t brought my books to our house from my parents. It is not uncommon for me to find multiple books spread out around my nemesis – his recliner. He needs his books, I want him to study, but we need to place them somewhere/somehow more appropriately.

Now, is not the time to focus on built-ins and he needs some books readily accessible. So, this weekend I will be playing around with stacking them to create a side table or something prettier than a mess.

This picture is from Real Simple. One would need to place something on the top book to protect the surface.

This photo is from Apartment Therapy. I like the tray on top of the books, better than a piece of glass. This photo was found on Pepper Design Blog.

I cannot decide if it would look better with the books covered. What do you think? Should be the books be mixed (as shown), color coordinated or covered? I think part of the attraction to the stacked look is seeing their covers.
