As promised yesterday, today’s post is about out the landing/foyer into our side room. Though we have a front door we use our side door as our main entrance.

The Colonel Hoof-Hearted and I welcome you.
Isn’t he the cutest man-bear-pug?

I placed the striped, wool rug on the bottom stair as the carpet was particularly spoted there. The rug was originally part of our hallway runner and was found at TJMaxx for $10.00. The decorators table came from Goodwill and was $3.99. The “tablecloth” is a curtain panel from an IKEA set. The embroidered runner across the top of the table came from the flea market and it was around $15.00. The book is my grandmother’s bible and yes there is a tray on top of it.  The tray is brass and bamboo. This means that it’s particularly awesome. It came from Goodwill and was $4.99. The spriggy things is for the days of the week. We don’t use it like we should. The glass jug came from my parents. My father always had them in his room for his coins.

As you enter you will turn to the left to go up the stairs. Then, you will notice my LOVE print from Jennifer Ramos. Jennifer’s blog is here and you can copy me and buy your own print here. I purchaed the frame from Michaels and spray painted it navy. The matting is scrapes of fabric that came from some tablecloths I purchased at Ross. The coatrack came from Hobby Lobby and I purchased it when it was half off. I belive it was $10.00. It was my answer to this concern.

This is what the print and the wall look like when you get to the top of the three stairs and into the sideroom. The pendant light is from West Elm. We purchased it on clearance and I believe it was $100.00.

This is the view from the top of the stairs. The basket below the coatrack came from TJMaxx Homegoods and was $12.00. We put returns and things that need to go out to our vehicles in it.

This is the view looking down and into the area. The bamboo, matchstick blinds came from Lowes and the pelmet box was made using Jenny’s super-smart tutorial found here.

This is what the stairs look like and the reason we are stoked about getting new carpet.

So gross.

I just threw up in my mouth a lil’ bit.

I would like to say, on our behalf, that the grime is not our doing. It’s been like that and we’re excited to replace it next week.

I have had a pair of cream lamps from TJMaxx for some time – maybe a year. Recently, I have been seeing them, in varying colors, make their way around the blogosphere.

Knight Moves

Made by Girl (Jen painted her lamps black.)

The lampshades that came with the lamps were okay but I have been looking for replacements. Here are the original shades wiht lights on and off:

Here are the new shades I purchased for $16.99 (plus tax) at Tuesday Morning.
