A new-to-me show is Work of Art : The Next Great Artist on Bravo.  I enjoy it, but I find Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn’s haircut to be distracting when it becomes time for the judges to arrive. Her haircut has nothing to do with the artists or the show. However, I feel that stylists can be artists of a different medium – hair.

Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn’s photo from the Work of Art site

I cannot help but decide it’s a mullet. Granted, not a full-blooded mullet but it’s a mullet’s cousin. Her ‘do is what makes me nervous about shag haircuts. Yet, I’ve mulled over Katy Perry’s past cut.

It does not look like a mullet, but it could if cut too short.

I cut my hair a few months ago. After over a year of growing it out, for The Mister and I’s wedding, I felt the thing to do was to cut it. Plus, it could be hard to manage. I told him, but when The Mister saw it he was surprised. I don’t think he realized how much I planned on cutting. Sadly, it couldn’t be used for Locks of Love because I color my hair.

While I type this post I realize I never shared a photo of my cut. Nor did I share a photo of my ah-maz-ing glasses that I picked up on the same day. So, here you go:

Classy no? With my tongue out and taking it with my phone? My mother harassed me for a photo and this is what was created.

It may not look shocking to you but it was to me. I couldn’t get it into a ponytail. I had to wear pigtails. During my first morning shower after the cut, I audibly gasped while washing my hair. I’d forgotten I cut it. Of course, it has grown and now I’m able to be don a pony. Yet, I feel the need to grow it out. Then, I find a photo of Gennifer Goodwin in my hair files. Yes, my hair files.

Does the madness ever end?

**UPDATE** More hair inspriation photos and ramblings found here.

I have been growing out my hair for two years. Initally, I was growing it out for my wedding. For awhile I have been saying that I plan to cut it off. Now that it is time to do such, I’m torn. I enjoy being able to pull it up in a chignon and pony tail. However, my hair needs attention.

Currently, it looks like a grade school student’s hair. My mop is almost all one layer and has no body. If I don’t blow it out and work at it, I’m not happy with it. So, I’m looking into new hairstyles and want some input.

This use to be my hair.

This hair style comes from her Hairdo line with Ken Paves. I like the length and it reminds me of my old Caruso days and I have a bunch of new rollers my mother found in her reserves and gifted me.

This is pretty short, but I think it’s super cute. Maybe later?

Similar to the previous photo. Are we seeing a trend?

I love big hair, but I’m thinking a tamed down verion of this. I am not promising I won’t jack it like this though. The bigger, the better.

The first step, finding a hair home. Then, I’ll have to make a final call.
