Last week’s shooting went okay. This week I have some more to do. Hopefully, I’ll be able to do more and become more comfortable.

allow yourself to be a beginnerhere

They sent me a blooper reel and it’s pretty funny. It’s a great summary of my akwardness. However, I can’t help but think I really should have lost fifty pounds. The Mister doesn’t like me saying this. He’s right -  I’m absolutely my worst critic. Plus, I was critical on some other small things on the reel. I have to remember the image above.

We had a fairly chill weekend. Saturday, we went to The Porter Flea and there were some great booths. It was easier to navigate at Cornelia Fort Airpark and there were more vendors. Sunday, we worked on painting a console. It took many coats but it’s turning out great.

I considered a more neutral color – cream or taupe. I showed some of these colors to The Mister and he made a face. Then, he had some wise words, “I figured you would do something else.” He meant something brighter and more colorful. He continued, “You should do something more adventurous and that you’d enjoy. It should be more you.” He’s a smart boy and I went with one of my first thoughts of color. I’m really happy with it.

It’s not really the season for scarves, but that’s the reason they are on sale. You need to get while the gettin’ is good. I haven’t worn many scarves lately, but I recently found some beautiful ones from ASOS. Some are oversized. So, you could get crafty and use them as a throw.

There are more scarves from ASOS for your consumption. All of the one’s listed above have free shipping – worldwide. It’s always interesting to see where my readers come from. Though most come the United States, I continue to be surprised by my view list. Yesterday, I had people visit from the following countries:

  • Japan
  • Canada
  • India
  • Australia
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Ireland
  • Tunisia
  • Germany
  • Thailand
  • Netherlands
  • United Kingdom
  • Republic of Korea
  • South Africa
  • Belgium
  • Chile

To channel my inner Oprah: You can get a scarf! And you can get a scarf!

To the people of Australia, I need to you to do me a favor. Go to Black and Spiro and take a detailed video of your browsing. I’d like it if the video was as if I was hanging out on your shoulder. Then, tell Anna Spiro that she’s the jam and give her a million high fives.

So, the shoot didn’t happen yesterday. It happens this morning. I showed up in full hair and make up, called my contact and her horrified response was  “No, it’s tomorrow.” My response was, “You mean I’m standing here in fake eyelashes for no reason?” It’s my fault. It was originally yesterday but it changed. I consider yesterday a dress rehearsal and it gave me some time for additional maintenance. While getting ready Tuesday morning I realized I should have done the following:

  • Got a manicure
  • Waxed my eyebrows
  • Had my teeth bleached
  • Lost 50 pounds

My fingernails commonly look bad. My nails have always been weak. They easily break and even peel. Plus, I don’t rub Vitamin E into my nail bed every night, so I’m not a stranger to busted looking cuticles. I’ve had acrylics in the past and have done gel manicures. I don’t like the drills for acrylics and I don’t like the UV light for gel. However, I got a gel manicure yesterday. It looks great and reinforces that I paint my finger nails like a four-year old.

Luckily, I was able to get in and have my brows waxed too. I cannot do my own brows. I physically cannot pluck them. It makes me sick to my stomach. Occasionally, I even feel sickly when a professional does it. Luckily, I keep my brows thick, and I’m told that I have a “perfect brow line,” so I don’t have to go too often.

I go to Therapy Systems in Green Hills and highly suggest them. I have their Wax Six card and you should buy it. Basically, you pay $60.00 for this card.

Then, they punch the card for each visit. This means I get my eyebrows done for $10. In fact, they’ll wax anything on yo’ face in that visit. You can get your brows, lip and whatever else done for $10.00. It’s a no-brainer.

I did not do anything to loose 50 pounds. In fact, I ate pretty terribly. My teeth will have to be okay. Nobody look at them.

So, for the first of “big-ish news” I’ve been alluding to. Today is the month mark. This month is my last with my company.

I’m excited and anxious. This transition didn’t begin under my control. (Nothing alarming occurred.) However, it’s been good for my soul that it is ending under my control. I have some contract work I’ll be doing and working at a family friend’s business that we’re looking into. It’ll be a new pace and a completely new path. Plus, some of my side projects have grown. I look forward to whatever comes my way.

On top of this, I have filming at my house today. You heard me. It’s only one wall but let’s discuss the manic cleaning and pondering I have put into this. It’s a new project for both me and the people in charge – I can’t tell you who yet because it’s their announcement to make. However, I’ve always had the personality trait that I want to be the best. I want it to be as perfect as I can make it. Fingers crossed y’all. It’s for a good cause. It’s good exposure. It’s good practice. So, it has to be good.

There are a bajillion other things that are going on. This year has been a whirlwind and we’re not even halfway through 2013. There’s more to share but those posts can wait. Right now, I need to primp. I can’t have y’all seeing me on “film” with bad hair and a shiny face.

In case you don’t subscribe, which should do, there was a post yesterday.
I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day.

“What I did this weekend” posts are now posts to help you get through your week. I’ll likely still include things done over the weekend, but I’ll have a little bit of extra (quotes, pretty photos, tasty food, music, good shit) for you. Basically, it’s a weekly ”Random Thoughts with RA.”

I hope you’re enjoying your long weekend and relaxing. Actually, my mind set on relaxing is usually closer to “ain’t nobody got time for that.” It’s something I’m working on.

aint nobody got time for that

Not only is the image found here but  it’s from a post titled “Finding Success in Your 30s.”

The Mister still talks about this performance.

He’s not a RiRi fan but he loves a green screen. It is hard to stop watching.

If you ever want to know “What would Rachael Anne like to do?” the answer is “brunch.” Well, brunch and style someone’s coffee table. Last week, I ate a Crab Cake Benedict at The Green Room in Greenville, SC.

It was a poached egg on top of a crab cake on top of a fried green tomato. They serve brunch everyday.

We can’t all be Kevin Durant, but we can likely donate something to the American Red Cross. You can donate to the disaster fund here or to a local chapter. Additionaly, you can always text “REDCROSS” to 90999 for a $10.00 donation.

Obviously, Oklahoma. I have no photos or stories to share. If you need additional information about what’s going on – just turn on your TV or go to Facebook. You know that everyone on Facebook is an expert on everything. I’m going to focus on things that cannot compare to the devastation in Oklahoma, but they still upset me.

First, Happy Endings was canceled. It’s probably your fault. It was moved to Friday evenings, ABC had a #savehappyendings campaign and it was cut. I thought about protesting ABC because of it. I had to look at a list of their shows to remember what they aired. First, it was ridiculous stuff like Grey’s Anatomy (Seriously?! That thing is still on?) and Revenge. Then, I saw Nashville (okay…it’s a little ridiculous too) and Modern Family. I may still have to watch these but the whole time I’ll still be sad about Happy Endings.

Here are Buzzfeed’s “36 reasons Happy Endings is the Best Show on TV.” There are rumors on the internets that a cable station (USA or TNT) may pick it up. Until then, I’m gonna have to play with my Jane paper doll.

Then, I saw this piece of Jenny’s art.

I immediately stopped walking down a sidewalk and “pulled over.” I quickly went to her Etsy site to buy it. I put it in my cart and got an “Oops” window and began to panic because I jumped to the conclusion that someone was doing the exact same thing. I tried again and sure enough I got “Sold Out.” I cursed out loud and threw my phone in my purse. It was not my proudest moment. So, I’m going to commission something. I just can’t take it anymore.

Coastal Living featured their 2013 Coastal Design Trendsetters in their June issue. Some great designers were listed, including Anthony Baratta. He was half of the design duo Diamond-Baratta for three decades and he’s now solo. I encourage you to check out his site.

This foyer is the most traditional of rooms from his portfolio. The floors are a showstopper, especially with the Greek Key border.
