Obviously, Oklahoma. I have no photos or stories to share. If you need additional information about what’s going on – just turn on your TV or go to Facebook. You know that everyone on Facebook is an expert on everything. I’m going to focus on things that cannot compare to the devastation in Oklahoma, but they still upset me.

First, Happy Endings was canceled. It’s probably your fault. It was moved to Friday evenings, ABC had a #savehappyendings campaign and it was cut. I thought about protesting ABC because of it. I had to look at a list of their shows to remember what they aired. First, it was ridiculous stuff like Grey’s Anatomy (Seriously?! That thing is still on?) and Revenge. Then, I saw Nashville (okay…it’s a little ridiculous too) and Modern Family. I may still have to watch these but the whole time I’ll still be sad about Happy Endings.

Here are Buzzfeed’s “36 reasons Happy Endings is the Best Show on TV.” There are rumors on the internets that a cable station (USA or TNT) may pick it up. Until then, I’m gonna have to play with my Jane paper doll.

Then, I saw this piece of Jenny’s art.

I immediately stopped walking down a sidewalk and “pulled over.” I quickly went to her Etsy site to buy it. I put it in my cart and got an “Oops” window and began to panic because I jumped to the conclusion that someone was doing the exact same thing. I tried again and sure enough I got “Sold Out.” I cursed out loud and threw my phone in my purse. It was not my proudest moment. So, I’m going to commission something. I just can’t take it anymore.

Make me happy and donate to the American Red Cross. You can donate to the disaster fund here or to a local chapter. Additionaly, you can always text “REDCROSS” to 90999 for a $10.00 donation.

I’m trying to come up with ideas on what to do with our television in our living room. My current idea is to surround it with a bookshelf or built in. Here are my inspirational photos.

I like these bookshelves the most.

Of course, I just like this room. Big gold mirror. Clear coffee table. Garden stool. Books everywhere. All of it. However, we couldn’t do a series of bookshelves. We don’t have the space. I just want the one.

I don’t think that’s too much to ask.

I think The Mister could make it. I don’t want anything fancy and these instructions/directions seem like something we could use.

I hope you enjoyed your long weekend. We went out quite a bit. Saturday morning, I took Upholstery for Beginners through The Skillery.

upholstery for beginners - The Skillery

It was hard to follow the steps and there was a table of like 20 tools with no diagrams. I learned that I should not take on projects bigger than chair seats.

Then, we took a nap to prepare for going out for a friend’s birthday.

It’s a rare treat and The Colonel Hoof-Hearted loved it.

We ate too much Chuy’s, went to the movies and then went to Drakes. We people watched and took Vine videos. I’d share them with you but I forgot to post them to Twitter so I don’t have a URL to share. I’m the only “Rachael Anne” if you search.

We met some friends for brunch at 11:30 Sunday morning at Melrose. After a couple of drinks and hearing about a party some of them went to the night before (How did I not know about ice luges?) we decided to keep going out.

sunday funday glasses

I think those were just The Mister’s glasses.

The plan was to go to The Wild Beaver, but it was closed. So, instead we ran around Broadway. We ran into Deacon from Nashville at HonkyTonk Central and Powers Booth from Nashville at Layla’s. We opened Lonni’s, which we thought was really funny at the time, and The Mister and I left after this photo.

After more than eight hours of an unplanned Sunday Funday, The Mister’s head was hurting pretty bad. So, I had to take care of my man. However, our friends stayed out like champs and we’re gonna have to make it more of a thing.

We slept in and took another tap on Monday and I made some dinner that was not good. (I’m keeping it in hopes that somehow it becomes tasty overnight, but I know I’m going to have to throw it all away tomorrow.) Typically, I’m all about getting some stuff done on the weekend, especially on a long weekend. However, it was great to do nothing after a wild week and be thankful for friends.

While watching DVRed episodes of Secrets From a Stylist I saw this.

My reaction was yelling “Yeah! Throw that on the couch!”, which I’d like to note that’s what she did. That’s because we’re connected awesome. This is what it looked like.

Yes, all these photos of the episode are from me taking photos of my television. Deal with it and be thankful I have DVR to rewind a million times with.

However, the ladyfriend getting her house did informed viewers that mud cloths could also be used as rugs. I didn’t know what a mud cloth was so I quickly realized I needed to get on it and referred to the internet.

From different sources that are listed throughout, here is what I gather: Mud cloths are made in Mali by artisans of the Bamana Tribe. They take cotton strips and dye them using natural materials like tree bark. This strips are then sewn together. This site has a lot of good information including what the symbols on mud cloths represent. They sell mud cloths but it appears you cannot view them in advance so you cannot be gauranteed one that is only black and white.

I want one in black and white. So, I kept searching with little luck. I found one eBay listing for this 32×46″ mudcloth.

Then, Jamie posted photos of a couch she has for sale.

I couldn’t agree more.

The New York Times shared this chair from the 2008 Kips Bay Decorator Show House.

They say that mud cloth-style fabric is available for $5 a yard at Yara International, 6 East 125th Street (Fifth Avenue), (212) 289-3842. We’ll see about that. By the way, the Sexy Afro Glam episode of Secrets From a Stylist had one of the best reveal reactions I’ve ever seen. Here is a photo I took of it for you.

It makes The Colonel uncomfortable. He usually pulls his ears back when I watched the episode.

The Mister and I are large Mad Men fans and this Sunday’s episode was one of the best. Though I have noticed Joan’s apartment in previous episodes/seasons it was this Sunday when I decided to test The Mister on the paint color. I loves it. Loves it a lot.

All photos are from here. There are some other photos to gaze at here.

BAM! That coral is the best. It makes one think of Dorothy Draper. The Mister wasn’t surprised that I liked the coral and he didn’t say anything about it except that he wasn’t surprised. So, we’ll take that as a “I love it. We should definitly paint something that color.” Obviously.

If you didn’t watch Mad Men last night then I have nothing to say to you. Actually, I do have something to say to you. It’s The Mister that you have to deal with. Whether you watch Mad Men or not you likely know that Jon Hamm is very attractive and he’s quite funny. So, let me tell you about Emotions With Jon Hamm in case you haven’t heard. It’s a tumblr site with this to say about itself: “One day, Jon Hamm realized that he is the best human in the universe in the having a face department, so he decided to bless us all by becoming an actor. Emotions With Jon Hamm is a celebration of his craft.”

I started watching The Biggest Loser a long time ago – like when the mom from Sabrina the Teenage Witch was the host and there were three trainers. However, I started falling behind on my watching the past couple of seasons. I’m especially behind on watching Biggest Loser this year. Last night was the first night I watched the show in its entirity (minus the commercials due to the wonder of DVR) on the night it aired. I’ve been traveling a lot on Tuesday nights so I have the season on DVR.  The other episodes I’ve flipped through to try to stay on top of them and to make sure I can see this man.

here

This man, Dolvett Quince, is sexy.

Last night, I was shocked when a whole group of women were switched to his team and none of them were excited. Say what?! I adored Jillian. I had no idea how they’d replace her and I still miss her. Bob is my homeboy. Seriously. He’s from my hometown – where I was born and raised. So, I like him very much and he’s not bad on the eyes either.

However, I appreicate the Dolvette candy.

You’re welcome.

A taste of The Lemon

30 Rock’s season premier is tonight and I’m jazzed about it. Really excited. I’m sure I’ve quoted Liz Lemon more than I realize.
