This weekend, The Mister passed his cold onto me. Before it hit me Saturday night, we went to the Porter Flea. Here are some things I found there.

I liked the mix of colors and patterns.

I didn’t get any of these, but wish I would have spent more time at the booth and left with one.

Make your own TN themed pillow. I liked the moonshine one.

I bought these two pairs of earrings from RINjuel.

I tried on a pair of red glasses from Wink Wink Eyewear. Sadly, I didn’t get a photo but they were cute. Holler Design was in attendance and  I loved their rocker.

It’s really beautiful.

The Mister bought a Nashville print and a couple beers.

Overall, it was a successful outing.  Now, I need to blow my nose.

This weekend I went through my jewelry organizer as I needed more space in it and it’d be a long time since I purged any items.

20121001-113911.jpg

Both sides were full – one for gold and one for silver jewelry. It’s been like that since college and a lot of the earrings were from that time too. I used to wear mostly larger earrings but I’ve not worn them in years. Now, I wear my 10mm gold and silver “ball earrings” The Mister bought me almost exclusively. It’s quite a difference from my old Target finds. So, I decided to try some
on and see if they were worth keeping. I realized some were and self portraits are not as easy as they look on Facebook. I now know those people are taking multiple photos to show us that one, glorious bathroom shot. I went with ridiculous faces.

These were worn to a few UT events.

I kept these for no reason. I doubt I’ll wear them.

20121001-114553.jpg

These earrings were old faves. I kept them too for sentimental reasons.

20121001-114711.jpg

I had a green shirt that I usually wore with these. Heels always.

These green earrings were also a favorite. I remember finding them at Dillard’s.

20121001-115032.jpg

These were old stand-bys. I had them in silver and gold.

20121001-115149.jpg

I loved these.

20121001-115302.jpg

Here I am wearing them, and a spray tan, with The Mister at a Dave Matthews Concert years ago.

I wore these quite a bit too. I’m sure there are photos of me in all of these.

20121001-115447.jpg

I wore these last year at the Legacy Ball.

Though I kept a few pairs, some not shown/modeled, I did get rid of quite a few pieces.

This week, as I leave my 20s, I’m making myself wear one pair of “college earrings” each day.

The Bangles

No, we’re not talking about these ladies.

here

Maybe later. Right now we’re talking about organization.

We don’t use paper towels (here) but I purchased a paper towel holder while buying the toilet brush at IKEA. They were in neighboring crates and I caught myself staring at it wondering what I could do with it. Then, I decided that one would be great to use to organize bracelets and bangles and I was right.

In fact, I’ll be in Dallas in two weeks and have already decided a trip to IKEA will be necessary for another one. I’ve looked for paper towel holders at other stores (Target, TJMaxx, Goodwill) but they all have design issues. There has always been something on the side or on the top of the holder that’s in the way or bracelts will not easily fit over.

Should you Google image paper towels, there are a lot of themes. Chickens, bears, waiters, knives, seashells, carrots, palm trees, they are all available.

IKEA’s simple design is ideal. Plus, the dang this was only 99 cents. Here it is in working order on my vanity.

Like my curtains? They’re pretty good. More photos of the bedroom to come this week. Additionally, you’re about to see a bunch of 30 Before 30 updates as I have one month before the event. Eek!

If you’ve ever wondered “I need something I may only wear a few times and have lots of time to browse. Where can I find a massive Claire’s?” I have an answer and it’s Charming Charlies.

I had the pleasure of being able to catch up with a friend/sorority sister while I was on the road last week. She was getting her hair did and the window front of Charming Charlie’s told me they’d be a good place to kill a couple minutes while I waited for her to finish up.

This place is bananas, but not necessarily in a good way. First, they quickly welcomed me and asked me if I had been there before. I said “no” and their only advice was “Well, we’re organized by color.” I could figure that out. What I couldn’t figure out was where to start. I have a large threshold of tolerance for shiny things and digging for treasure, but even I was overwhelmed.

Basically, there are tall table displays with shelves underneath that hold jewelry, purses, tops, belts and knick knack patty whacks. Each table has a common color. There are multiple tables for each color. I picked up a purse or two and quickly realized they were not something I’d purchase, but I could see someone younger carrying it. For example, there was a rattan clutch that looked promising. However, you noticed when you picked it up that it doesn’t line up or close well. Plus, it had a silver chain in it to carry it not as a clutch. They shouldn’t encourage that type of behavior style. You really have to search for the good eggs within their store. It took a lot more time than I thought it would and I definitely found more bad than good.

They try hard to be trendy.

More lime than Chippendale

Kind of mint colored

There we plenty of the Claire’s staple – cheap prom jewelry.

However, there were some winners.

This was also in red.

These are my purchases:

The bracelet set was $7.97, the blue bracelet was $9.97 and the earrings were $12.97.

My friend, Bethany, agreed that it overwhelmed her and she had to come in looking for something specific. She also told me there’s one in Green Hills mall. Once she said it I realized I had walked by it a few times but never ventured in. Now, that I know what it is I am surprised it is in the mall. I don’t know if I’ll go again. I currently have no plans to revisit. You need to commit some time to it in order to appropriately dig, go for something particular (certain color or type of jewelry) and go without any high expectations.

Have you been to Charming Charlies? Does is always seem overwhelming? Any good finds?

This ring is so much fun and it gives me color inspiration.

Then…wait for it…it opens.

Natasha

POW! It got better.

If you don’t have the $225.00, Forever 21 has some babushka, Russian nesting doll jewelry. It’s not nearly as colorful, pretty or well-made but the necklace below is $1.50 and I saw a pair of earrings for the same.

Since you received a post on Tuesday, I figured why not treat you to one today. Then, you’ll receive something from my bounty everyday this week. What’s mine is yours.* So, here are some random thoughts for you to ponder.

This is the best use of $13.99 in awhile.

In the words of Ms. B I’m still “crazy in love” with Jonathan Adler’s Bond Console.

These shoes should get me out of my “flat funk.”

Image taken in our hall with my phone – sorry for the bad quality

They were purchased at a Ross Dress for Less in Oklahoma City. They were less than $20.00. I am very tall in them. I walked into the kitchen and realized we needed to clean the top of the vent.

The Mister purchased me this necklace.

He is a nice boy. It goes with everything. I get tons of compliments on it. While visiting a client every woman (seriously each one) said something about it.

Have you purchased or received anything new that you would like to tell us about? What’s your favorite track on Beyonce’s album? Have you been a Ross Dress for Less?

Last Friday, I shared some necklaces from Oliphant. One of the necklaces was the Sea Green Bauble Necklace.  Yesterday, I found the following:

It may be more turquoise than sea foam blue. However, it was $40.00 cheaper. Here is a side-by-side.

What do you think? They didn’t have anything like the Multi Strand Rainbow Freshwater Pearl Necklace. I checked.

Elva Fields

I have got to get into jewelry making. I learned early of the power of bling – I have a good Momma. I have some wonderful “real” pieces but I still adore costume jewelry. Elva Fields has some of the best pieces out there. Emily Wheat Maynard created Elva Fields and you can read about her and the creation of her line here. I suggest you do after checking out the new holiday collection.
