Dear Party People and Ladyfriends (also known as “lovelies”) -
I have big news. I upholstered our folding screen. It’s not put back together, it’s currently four panels leaning against the wall. However, I cannot help myself. I must share some photos.

The photo doesn’t do it justice.
The fabric can be found here but I purchased mine from Calico Corners. It was $28 a yard, just a few dollars more. I went to Calico Corners, asked for a sample and lusted over it for a week. When I purchased it I found out that the fabric is named Wonderland Pearl. Of course, I googled it and found that Aubrey + Lindsay’s Blog featured it here. That is where I found the online resource for the fabric, after I had purchased mine.
Now, back to the beauty that is mine.
Here are the first two upholstered screens beside the original screens.
After I was done with all four, I sat on the couch and stared at them while smiling like a goof.
Here are my fabric samples, my inspiration.
You may recognize the green fabric from this. I’ll do a breakdown of the pieces when I’m able to source them appropriate and am able to find their old price tags.
I’m so excited I almost asked The Mister to have it put back together for me when I get back in town. Then, I realized he’d need my help. Future post showing us putting the screens together will be up next week.
Your happy folding screen owner,
RA

i have been looking at this fabric, too! i think it’s so pretty, colorful, versatile…i want to use it for my daughter’s room as curtains and possible bed canopy, but i can’t figure out if it is pliable enough to use as curtains! what do you think, now that you have worked with it? i love the fabrics you have paired it with…that looks SOOO good! lots of colors to pick up in the fabric, right? love the post, kelly
Kelly,
I’m posting the panels put togehter and will talk about some suggestions with this fabric and upholstering a screen. However, you could totally make curtains with it. I made curtains with a similar fabric. I didn’t line them, as it was my the second sewing project, and I suggest you do so. Additionally, I suggest you wait for my upcoming post. I’m planning it for Wednesday. If you decide to make curtains with it, let me see them. I’ll be jealous.

it will be a while before we ever get this curtain project going, mostly b/c having trouble with what to do with the walls to make it work! my daughter wants a very “pink” room – but, i think it is hard to do straight pink paint on walls without it looking kinda sicky sweet. found a green trellis wallpaper that looked awesome with this fabric, but it was too much green for her! if i ever get this project underway i will definitely send you photos. your pairing of the other fabrics with this floral is what made me decide that it would be very fun to use! maybe you can let me know what you think of this fabric curtain against a plain pink wall? thanks!

I think it’d look cute with a pale pink wall. I’ll search around for some pinks and do a follow up post.
