Hello Lovely,
You have found one of my most popular posts! This means you’re likely very good at searching or a lurker. Either way, I’m glad to have you here and I’d love for you to stick around . Let’s hang out – I bet you’re a good egg.
Yours,

have to be done correctly or else I’d say something unfortunate about your taste. There is a fine line between appropriate and inappropriate with animal prints. What looks cheap and what looks chic. Zebra is no exception to leopard or those wretched giraffe printed purses carried everywhere last year.
Some would say they were a Domino staple, all of these photos came from Domino.
It’s a bit much and impractical, draping over the couch. However, its stunning and a statement room.
The zebra rug is layered on top of a sisal rug with brown binding. The brown surprised me, as I still don’t mix brown and black that close to each other. I understand they are both neutrals, it’s something I have to work on.
The blue color is striking and the zebra rug is a gorgeous contrast to it.
If these were Hermes boxes, I’d want to know what they did in this office. It’s a pretty color combination. The orange isn’t too yellow.
This color combination instantly makes me think of Scalamandre’s iconic zebras leaping to avoid arrows wallpaper. Their ads generally show the orange background. However, the wallpaper is gorgeous in orange, yellow, brown or green.
This wallpaper was reissued just a few years ago. Kate Spade is rumored to have it in green in her bathroom, sadly I have no proof, and it is inside dressing rooms at some of her retail. I’d love to find it anywhere inside my home. Back to rugs….
The zebra punches up an otherwise neutral room. This is closest to my personal style.
Zebra and brown-lots of it. The Girondale Mirror is gorgeous.
Not only does the rug’s surroundings have to be something, but the rug’s print must be good. Therefore, I’m looking at two right now.
This one from Z Gallerie. This is 4.9′x7.4′ is $169.95. Tempting price, I’ve already called my local store. They have two.
These are from Ballard Designs. The 4’6″x6′ is $299.00. I like the tan.
I am wanting to buy one for our guest room. I’m stuck on my color palette, as I’m pretty sure I want to add a picture railing. I’ve been toying with black mouldings. That post is coming soon.
Do you have zebra rug? Know anyone to have one – whether good or bad?

I prefer the white and black over the white and tan. This made me think of my Gran’s house who had an original cow rug in her house. It was authentic cow hide, and we grew up on it. She had told me that I could have it one day, and then my brother got upset, because he had spent more time with it, so I allowed him to have it. After looking at your usages of the zebra rug, it makes me think that the authentic cow hide rug could be classy and utilized in a lot different ways. I may try and see if I could get an authentic cow hide, as it will not only look nice, but bring back memories of trips to Gran’s.
I’m not surprised that your Gran had good taste. Maybe you could get it back from Ben?
I’ll do a post on cowhide rugs next week. They are classic neutrals and you should definitly have one. You are one of the classiest boys/people I know.
[...] 22, 2010 by thelovelylifestyle From my zebra rug post I found out that my good friend Rhet appreciates cowhide rugs. His grandmother had one, which his [...]
my friend Laura has one a giant zebra rug in her office. She killed the zebra in Africa, donated the meat to farm workers and had it shipped to the US for processing – for the skin to be put on felt. all that cost $5000. Woah!
She is very relaxed about what happens near/on the zebra but I get rather nervous with my little one around it. that is something to thnk about if you plan on having kiddos in the future.
i just love these rugs. Very different and so elegant in the seven picture. Great combination pieces of decoration.
