The zig-zag pattern, appropriately known as chevron, is everywhere.
Suzannah, from Adventures in Dressmaking, made this chevron rug:

Stephanie Sabbe, who writes Sabbespot, made this impressive wall decor. She used contact paper to create the creamy stripes and has a thorough tutorial here.
Both of these DIY projects were on Design*Sponge. However, I found Stephanie Sabbe’s blog through one of my favorites Little Green Notebook.
Stephanie states that contact paper should be used with caution on dry wall, but works well with plaster walls. Well, luck may have it that our home has plaster walls. I cannot say I’ll do a chevron pattern, but I’m already brainstorming my contact paper construction project. We have a guest room with a curved wall, maybe a trellis border? Faux moldings around art?

I love the chevron rug, but the tutorial sounds pretty complicated. I’m wondering what the texture of paint feels like against your feet, too. Chevron is so popular right now though and I can’t imagine a cheaper way to get a rug with that design!
